For this project completed in Eastman, in the Eastern Townships, we worked inside a log home to improve the insulation between the logs with chinking. Over time, the joints can crack, open up, or let air through, which can affect interior comfort. The goal was to restore the airtightness of the joints while preserving the warm character of the log home.
For this log home located in Eastman, we carried out interior chinking work to improve the insulation and comfort of the home.
In a log home, the joints between the logs play an important role. When they start to crack, come loose, or let air through, it can create heat loss, drafts, and sometimes even moisture problems. Chinking seals these gaps while maintaining the authentic style of the log home.
Before application, we prepared the areas to be treated to ensure good adhesion and a clean result. Then, the chinking was applied between the logs to improve interior airtightness and help stabilize comfort in the home.
If you feel air passing between the logs or your interior joints are starting to crack, it’s often the right time to have the situation corrected.
